Wes is a relatively new addition the string. I got him last summer from
a friend, Charlie Plumb. I grew up riding with Charlie's parents, Donnan
and Mike, when they lived in Chesapeake City, Maryland. Both of my
advanced horses were hurt last summer, and I was trying to find an
advanced horse to lease for the fall season. I called Charlie, who was
receptive to the idea. He did not own Wes outright; the other owner
was a little concerned, but they made it possible for me to buy him. I
am very grateful to them for making it happen. I am really enjoying
working with Wes; he is very different from anything else I have ridden.
(He is 18.0 hands.) We are still on a learning curve, but I look forward
to good performances next spring!
